The pictures in his mind arose... and began to breathe

Every now and then the city gives me a rainy, cloud-filled day... but in a strange way I feel it suits DC. Gray skies and monuments go so well together.

Okay so it's been a while. I realize that. I'm sorry—things have been a little busy. I haven't been traveling as much as I'd like (even though I did just get back from a lovely weekend in New York City) but I've been throwing myself into my work and absolutely loving it. I get so much joy and energy from what I do.

There is so much and so little to report. We've decided to continue living in our rowhouse on the hill instead of moving to northwest. I adore our neighborhood and our house—and the very idea of moving during an election season is exhausting.

My mother is coming to visit me in DC in less than two weeks and I want everything to go perfectly. Of course I'll expect to spend a lot of time gardening with her, but I also want to show her DC and fill up her dance card with little activities like jazz in the garden and rooftop brunches. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

And now, because I'm not really sure what else to put here, a picture of my new awesome shoes. They're so bright and fun I can hardly wait to slip them on and get to the gym after work every day.
